Do you know how to play Rugby?

Rugby is a game played by two teams with an oval shaped ball which they can kick, pass or carry.

Rugby is a contact sport. The goalposts are on the rugby field because after they score a try, they have a conversion in which the try scoring team’s goal kicker has to kick the ball up the middle of the posts. In rugby there are two teams of eighteen and they have eight reserves and the teams both play for forty minutes each half.

There are many rugby teams like Japan, Canada, France, Samoa, Tonga and New Zealand. All teams have to qualify for tournaments, they have to play a series of games to qualify. Rugby is important because it is an opportunity for people to play sports and get fit. It makes us get outside and enjoy the fresh air. If someone plays rugby well, they could be recognised in our history books. Rugby  is also very fun game that encourages people to be more active.

Lenten time

Lent is the 40 days before Easter in the Christian church’s year.

Lent is a time when we have to give up certain luxuries. You have to give up something for forty days.We give up something because Jesus didn't eat food for 40 days.

Jesus didn't eat food in the desert because he wanted to cleared his mind so that he can teach and heal people. The devil tried to distract him, but Jesus ignored him . Jesus never stopped because God sent angels to strengthen Jesus.

Jesus stayed for forty days to symbolise the people of Israel because stayed in the desert for forty years. People wore sack clothing and put ashes on their head to say how sorry they were for not following Jesus.

Palm Sunday is the last day of Lent. Palms are burnt and turned into ashes. Lent starts on March 5th and finish on April 17.
